Welcome to the German Pavilion on FILDA 2009 in Luanda!
For the last seven years, the economic growth of Angola has been extraordinary. Even though the oil price has decreased substantially during the last months, the Angolan economic growth remains strong. The government of Angola is very active in developing measures for the development of different economic sectors and regions which spark the interest of the German industry.
This becomes visible in the profound number of German companies exhibiting at the Luanda International Fair in 2009. The German Pavilion at the FILDA is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) in co-operation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and supported by the German African Business Association (Afrika-Verein).
Once again 19 companies from various sectors will present a wide range of products of leading technology and qualified services from high voltage switch gears, engineering services to equipment and machinery for vocational training, agriculture, construction and interior design. Additionally, there will be exhibited consumable products as well as products for medical use.
In 2008, the bilateral trade between Angola and Germany increased heavily reaching € 870 Mio. (compared to € 510 Mio. in 2007). The importance of Angola as a business partner for Germany also became apparent with the signing of a mutual economic agreement between the two countries on the occasion of the visit of President José Eduardo dos Santos to Germany in February 2009.
The up-coming opening of an office of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Luanda will be a further step for the intensification of the economic cooperation between Angola and Germany.
We trust that the growing business activities will continue in the future to strengthen the economic ties between our two countries.
